Feb 1, 2016 | D Otterhound Puppies, Puppies
The pups turned seven weeks on February the first. Now is the time we begin looking for that perfect home for each of the pups. They have grown so much and are beginning to develop personalities. All too soon they will be ready to go to their new homes.
We had a nice warm spell and they got to go outside in the puppy pen (a 30 by 40 foot area) for the first time. They had a ball running around and exploring. They found it easier to go under the big dog house rather than in it. They also found it nicer to go out to potty so have begun to announce that they have to go. After time in the yard the back porch seems confining and they want to go out even when it is too cold.

The D litter was six weeks old on January 25. The the week was filled with escapes The pups’ uncle Barclay staged a couple of escapes from the back porch. The first time I caught two of the three puppies involved following him off the porch and the second time two of the three were visiting aunt Bonney in one of the kennels.
The puppies got to play with a new toy: “Hide A Bee”. Playing and fighting over the bees and the hive they hide in was great fun. On the 25th the puppies got their first round of shots.

D Litter Otterhound Puppies are 5 Weeks Old! They have grown and developed a lot. Cheyenne’s milk has mostly dried up so they rely on the solid food. It has gone from mush to softened puppy kibble.

January 11 the D litter was four weeks old. A lot happened in four weeks. They switched from nursing to eating “solid” food, otherwise known as puppy mush. They went from once a day feedings to four times a day. The first meal was in their box but they quickly moved from there to a pen that was easier to clean.
They have begun to play for short periods and have discovered toys, mainly toilet paper tubes and sock monsters.

Happy New Year from the D Litter and are now January Otterhound puppies! The new year has seen great strides in the development of the D litter. All of the puppies have their eyes open and move around as if they could see. At this stage they see more with their noses than their eyes. Their noses only stop when they sleep. The silly flaps they had a birth have developed into recognizable ears.
