Summer Otterhounds

Hunter’s Dame Clara has fully recovered from the loss of her puppies back in April and has been enjoying playing in the pond with all the enthusiasm of an Otterhound.

The Hunter Otterhounds enjoyed a good squirrel chase in late June. Hunter’s Sunny Cheyenne proved that Otterhounds can almost fly. She jumped a couple of feet straight up trying to reach the squirrel. If the limb had only been lower she would have been up the tree.

The summer Otterhounds have said goodbye to the pleasant days of June and have welcomed the hot dry days of July. With the heat settling in here in Texas the Otterhounds have cut back on exercise except in the cooler hours of early morning or late evening. They spend plenty of time in the water or racked out in front of the cooler.

This laid back attitude didn’t stop them from welcoming Hunter’s Harvey Corrigan for a brief visit. Harvey spent a few days with his sisters Cheyenne and Clara while his owners were out of state. Cheyenne and Clara introduced Harvey to the great fum of barking at the deer in the bottom and racing around for the sheer fun of it.

All good things must come to an end and Harvey joyfully welcomed his owner back and headed home. The Hunter Otterhounds gave him a rousing send off and then settled back to sleeping through the heat of another hot July day. Just another afternoon spent lined up on the cool tile in front of the cooler.
