The D Litter Otterhounds pups turned eight weeks on February eighth. It was a busy week. As the weather had been nice and in the 60’s they got to go out often. Being outside had a lot of benefits but also some draw backs. Like any toddler everything went into their mouths. It was great as long as it was bulas and toys…
They loved playing with the bulas, tugging each other around, playing keep away and just chewing on them. Other things that went in their mouths were not so great as they ended up with upset digestive systems. That meant a round of antibiotics. The D Litter Otterhounds didn’t mind they loved the bubblegum flavor. After being outside they enjoyed warming up on the back porch.
D Litter Otterhounds are Adventurous
Pup 1
Hunter’s Dallas Diva
Dallas was one of the first to grab a bula when they were tossed out. She liked playing with it by herself but also like playing tug-o-war with her sister. She is developing into a very distinctive girl. She is bold and doesn’t mind being alone. She was 14.3 pounds.
Pup 2
Hunter’s Darco Winn
Darco went through a stage where he was frightened when it started to get dark. He would cry to come in but wouldn’t come running like the others. It quickly passed and he is one of the first waiting to come in. He loves playing with the bulas. He was 14.6 pounds.
Pup 3
Dora the Traveler.
Dora also has been going through a stage. She has been more needy but while she wants to be held more often she still can’t be still long. When she does slow down it is usually to sleep soundly. She loves sleeping in the big dog house in the sun. She was 14.3 pounds.
Pup 4
Hunter’s Diana Evanna
Diana gave us a scare this past week. She apparently swallowed an acorn whole and it got stuck. She finally coughed it up but she had to spend a day at the vet’s to be checked out. She apparently enjoyed a peaceful day interrupted by tests. Except for losing a little weight she has fully recovered and was up to 12.7 pounds by the eighth.
Pup 5
Hunter’s Douglas Beorn
Douglas enjoyed playing with the bulas and trying to keep them from his siblings. He also liked following his nose. While he is the biggest he is not the most dominate and often is harassed by Doyle the littlest. He and sister Dawn really get into it at times. He was 15.8 pounds.
Pup 6
Hunter’s Doyle Crispin
Doyle quickly claimed a bula for himself and defended it against all comers. He played tug-o-war with the others and at one time had claimed three bulas. Being small hasn’t hindered him in the least. He tends to get cold quicker than the others possibly because he is small. When he is cold he really likes to cuddle. He was 11.8 pounds.
Pup 7
Hunter’s Dawn Star
Dawn is still the dominate one. She grabbed a bula for herself. She also hogs the food bowls. Growling at everyone near her. She has developed an endearing habit of sitting bouncing up and down on her front paws when she wants attention. As she bounces those lovely ears bounce as well. She was 14.9 pounds.
Pup 8
Hunter’s Dillon Peyton
Dillon also loves playing with the bulas. He tends to go off on his own a good bit. He doesn’t fight over the food bowls as much as the others but he is sure to get his fair share. His eyes appear to be developing the light color to go with his liver coat. He was 14.1 pounds.
Pup 9
Hunter’s Damon Aleron
Damon is developing quite well. He is still something of a loner but loves to cuddle when he is tired. He most often finds a spot away from the others to nap. However when they go to bed at night he doesn’t hesitate to start a fight to keep awake. He was 14.1 pounds.
