Cheyenne went in for x rays on November 30th as planned. The nice size litter of five Otterhound puppies suddenly became a large litter of at least nine pups.
Cheyenne continued to be lively and enjoy her runs around the pond twice a day. As the pups got bigger she began to eat less at each meal. We switched her to three meals a day.
On December 9th we began watching her for signs of whelping. December 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th came and went. While her temperature dropped nothing else did.
Otterhound Puppies for Christmas!
By December the 14th she was well along and a sonogram showed the pups were ready. When she still hadn’t whelped by noon it was decided that she should have a C section.
At 1:48 PM the first pup announced it arrival with a hearty wail. She was a bit of a surprise as she is black and white. She was quickly followed by a more usual black and tan male and a black and tan female. The fourth pup was a brown and white female. The fifth and sixth were black and tan males followed by a black and tan female. Number eight was a liver and tan boy like mom. Then came the last. Number nine was another boy this time white with brown spots.

We just discovered Otterhounds, and many look identical to one of our two Goldendoodles! We are getting close to adding a new pup to our pack and would love to learn more about your dogs. We will be looking for one that will be trained to be a therapy dog, so will want a friendly, outgoing pup that we can continue to socialize.
Please send me more information! Prices, testing, availability, etc. I’m happy to share any information about us as prospective owners.
Thanks!
