The Christmas Otterhound puppies have really developed in the past week. They got off to a slow start because Cheyenne’s milk had started to dry up. That meant we had to bottle feed them several times a day and there was a lot of crying at night.
Now that Cheyenne’s milk has come in they are starting to gain weight. They are all getting up on all fours even though most are staggering around. Their eyes are starting to open and they are beginning to develop personalities.
Christmas Otterhound Puppies!

Pup 1
Puppy One; the black and white female, is now up and walking around the whelping box even though her eyes are not open yet. She is up to 1.8 pounds.
Pup 2
Puppy Two; the first black and tan male, while up on his feet is not as steady as pup one. His eyes have started to open. He is up to 2.0 pounds.
Pup 3
The first black and tan female is the steadiest on her feet and tends to travel around the whelping box more than the others. Her eyes are partly open. She is up to 2.0 pounds.
Pup 4
The white and liver or brown female also is up and walking and her tail never stops. Her eyes are still closed. She is up to 1.8 pounds.
Pup 5
The second black and tan male is easy to distinguish due to the blaze of white on his head. He is walking with wobbly steps but up on all fours. He is up to 2.2 pounds.
Pup 6
The third black and tan male still has a curly coat. His coordination is not as good as the others but his eyes were the first to open. He is slow to gain weight and is only 1.5 pounds.
Pup 7
The second black and tan female has a distinctive white spot on her neck. It makes it easy to tell which of the rapidly moving black and tans is her. She is up to 2.1 pounds.
Pup 8
The only liver and tan also has a white spot on his neck. The kink in his tail is not as noticable. He has done the most growing and is now 1.8 pounds.
Pup 9
The white and liver or brown male has also done well. He is lively and walking but his eyes are not yet open. He is up to 1.7 pounds.
CONGRATULATIONS! WHAT A WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS PRESENT – NOTHING COULD BEAT THAT!!
WELL DONE CHEYENNE!
