On October 26 the AKC Otterhound Puppies turned four weeks old. The H Litter Hunter Hounds are really growing fast and experiencing many new things.
They went from eating solid food once a day to eating solid food four times a day. Not only are they eating more often they are eating more solid food. There were several warm days and the pups went outside for the first time and enjoyed dinning out but were ready to come back inside where it was warmer. They have progressed from wobbly to running and even trying to jump over each other.
We had to add a slat to the door of the whelping box because these AKC Otterhound puppies were climbing over the first six inch one. The H Litter have started cutting teeth and began chewing on everything including each other. To help with the teething they were given teething toys and sock monsters. They really took to the toys and socks.
Our little AKC Otterhound puppies spend more time playing and the mock fights are so fun to watch. Diana is spending more and more time out of the whelping box and they are nursing less when she is in there. It is getting harder to tell the pups apart as they are losing their baby fuzz and getting their first real coat of fur. Sadly that means their white markings are less pronounced and their baby fuzz has muted the color of their collars.

If you are interested in a puppy please fill out our puppy questionnaire. We would love to see our Otterhound puppies shown or in competition, however, the biggest consideration is what’s best for the puppy. Everyone interested will be given due consideration. However, not everyone will get a puppy as there are more requests than puppies.
